Being a mom means you're also the CEO of Party Planning Inc. and let's be honest, it's a logistical nightmare! You need to send invites, cater food, pick out the perfect outfits, provide drinks, scout a venue, and pray the weather doesn't ruin it all. But, if you can pull off this miracle while also tackling a million other mom duties, the end result is like winning the mom Olympics.
Despite a grey and cloudy day, we threw a memorable and charming Princess Tea Party and couldn’t resist sharing all the details with you.
PRINCESS AND THE TEA
Little girls love princesses because they embody the enchanting world of fairy tales and often, princesses are portrayed as strong, kind, and brave individuals who overcome challenges and obstacles, providing a positive role model for young girls. Think about Belle, saving The Beast, or Elsa, with her magic and notably (and more recently) Moana, riding the seas solo, and Scottish princess Merida with her bow, arrow and untamed red hair.
Little girls are drawn to the fantasy world of princesses and the idea that anything is possible with a little bit of magic and a lot of determination.
The same applies to any parent planning a party!

My first thought when planning this party was “I don’t want this to be cheesy.” As much as I acknowledge Disney’s contribution to the princess canon, I wanted this to feel like a party a princess would attend, not a party surrounded by cartoons. With that in mind, here is our Pinterest board full of Princess Tea Party inspiration you can follow and it’s where we saved many of our ideas!

DÈCOR
We wanted to create an atmosphere fit for a queen - or at least, a room full of little princesses. So, we went with a colour scheme of soft pinks, and touches of teal and cream. To add some pizazz, we hung up some pink bunting that was inexpensive and cheerful - kind of like the royal family on a budget. For a sweet hideaway, we invested in a princess tent, which was the perfect place for any little princess to take a break from the party madness, and to create a whimsical ambience, we hung up paper lanterns from the trees. Of course, no tea party is complete without a tea set, so we used one from Melissa and Doug that was just the right size for all of our royal guests.

CATERING
We wanted our princess party to be fit for royalty, and that meant only the prettiest and most delicious snacks would do! So, we whipped up a spread of treats that would make even the pickiest of princesses happy.

DRESS UP
We raided Kiddie Majigs, grabbing all of the essentials for the perfect princess wardrobe: Elsa and Anna's shimmering gowns from Frozen, Tinkerbell's green fairy dress from Peter Pan, Belle's yellow ballgown from Beauty and the Beast, Ariel's seashell bra and mermaid tail from The Little Mermaid, Aurora's pink and blue dress from Sleeping Beauty, and of course, Cinderella's iconic blue ballgown.
We even threw in a few extra accessories to make sure our princesses had both fun and flair. Because let's be honest, there's nothing like twirling around in a princess dress with a fan in your hand to make you feel like royalty.
With a well-planned shopping list, you can make sure your little princess and her guests have a magical and unforgettable party.
